- Washington Redskins

Ok, so here we are. The Washington Redskins have now announced they will be henceforth known as the Washington Commanders. Think about that. Let’s step back and really take in what just happened here. White liberals who live in the humanities departments of universities, convinced each other and just enough Natives that the Redskins – logo of Chief Two Guns White Calf designed by Blackfoot member, Blackie Wetzel, to remove the Native from the name…and replace this with Commander…
Now ask yourself, who is the ‘Commander’??? In Washington?? Washington Commanders, you might think it could be George Washington…and look, I’ve got no problem with GW, don’t misunderstand – but consider, they got the Native REMOVED and REPLACED with a white colonizer…THINK about that…to my Native readers…with allies like that, who needs enemies.
On the official YouTube page for the announcement it’s been totally ratio’d. It’s got 1.2 M views and only 6.2K likes. The dislike counter has been disabled, but that is a massive failure. Look at some of these comments:

And then of course, you’ve got Mr. White knight who’s gotta chime in and let the Native person know they don’t speak for all Natives:

Hilariously, this is the same sort of dynamic we saw earlier in the month with Peter Dinklage and the new Snow White movie. Dinklage managed to get all the actors playing the dwarves FIRED and the dwarves completely removed…talk about pulling the ladder up behind you…needless to say other dwarves…little people…or whatever name they prefer were pissed.
But anyway, so the Washington Commanders logo is just a stencil “W”…so lame. No one wants that and anywhere that still sells Redskins apparel will continue to sell out.

I get it that the trend in tech logos and graphics are flat, but you can’t convince me that the 2008 3D logo there is not superior.
So Google is changing the logo there from 14 to 22 and what they’ve done is to remove the slight shading that existed and slightly elevated the colors, going even flatter. Next stop is to concave the colors. The blue dot in the center also appears a bit richer. So that’s the new Google, going full flat.
- Bumpkin Skateboards

I made a change of my own here. My formal business actually started as an attempt at a straight skateboard business but quickly turned to art and other stuff. So I changed the name slightly but not officially. Well, this year I decided to just to all in with the skateboard name – I run a skateboard company that doesn’t really have anything to do with ‘skateboarding’ per se…I also want to start making pies and selling them this year.
Anyway, so I wanted to make just a straight forward, clear logo but something with a little color and also highlighted the dots…because most of my artwork is made with dots. So that’s that.
I just had some tshirts made, I’ll show them tomorrow. If you’ve kept up, I just drew the Tinman from Wizard of Oz and I’m coloring him tomorrow, and one of the shirts I ordered has the Wicked Witch on it, really nice shirts, good quality, I’m jazzed about it.
Ok so that’s the basic little rundown. Pretty quiet this month otherwise to my knowledge, but we’ll see what comes down the pike over the next month. As always, if you’re in the market for some artwork, my Etsy shop, I’ve got at huge, 30% off on smaller/medium sized oils on canvas, free US shipping. https://www.etsy.com/shop/BumpkinSkateboards?ref=seller-platform-mcnav
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week
